Why are inner spring mattresses prevented from being used in health care facilities?
Simple - Inner Spring mattresses cannot adequately eliminate pressure or provide correct ergonomic and biomechanical support. Inner Spring mattresses create pressure points on the body as the coils press back up against the individual. Prior to the introduction of inner spring mattresses, people used to sleep on mattresses made from horse hair which were much more beneficial since it reduced pressure and allowed the body to conform.
