What
is SAT?
SAT
stands for Self Adjusting Technology.
It is a revolutionary new technology
utilized in a mattress system that
dynamically responds to a person's
body weight to provide the lowest
possible interface pressures regardless
of body weight, shape or size without
the use of electrical motors, pumps
or sensors.
How
does this revolutionary new self
adjusting technology work?
The
SAT mattress is made up of a series
of independent cylinders equipped
with patented pressure relieving
air valves. These valves automatically
monitor, regulate and optimally maintain
the correct air pressure inside each
cylinder. The valves are precisely
calibrated to adjust to each individual
regardless
of body weight, type or shape. Each
cylinder independently adjusts to
take the maximum pressure off the
prominent pressure points of your
body. As you move across the surface,
the
proper volume of air is released
and as you roll over, the cylinders
refill themselves. By harnessing
the atmosphere as an abundant resource
of free energy, we are able to create
a dynamic surface that adjusts perfectly
to the contours of your body.
What's
the difference between a supportive
and firm mattress?
A
supportive mattress is one that is
able to give support in the small
of the neck, the lumbar area in the
small of the back and behind the
knees. A firm mattress such as an
inner spring mattress is not able
to conform to the unique curvature
of the body. Instead, your body conforms
to the mattress. A firm, hard sleep
surface is actually non-supportive.
The body has curves that form bridges
just like the arch in your feet.
What would happen if there was no
arch support in your shoes? We all
know the answer and it doesn't
take a medical study to prove the
results!
Your mattress should conform to you instead
of you conforming to it. On a hard, firm, "board
like" mattress that does not conform to
the body, the hips and shoulders are pushed
up, forcing the body out of alignment. Instead,
the mattress should conform to you, allowing
the body to sink into it, slightly caressing
and cuddling you, supporting and filling into
the small parts of the body or the bridges
(arches). Comfort also comes from conformity
allowing for a more restful nights sleep. Conformity
allows for better weight distribution which
means less pressure on any particular part
of the body.
Why
is it so important to sleep on
an anatomically supportive mattress
rather than a firm mattress?
When
lying on your back, support is critical
in the Cervical Lordosis (neck area),
Lumbar Lordosis (lower back area)
and even behind the knees. Most people
are unable to sleep on their back
due to little or no support in the
low lumbar region. However, sleeping
on your back is the healthiest possible
position to sleep. On your back,
we distribute your body weight across
the widest surface of your body.
This minimizes pressure points placing
your spinal system along with your
internal
organs in proper
alignment. If the mattress doesn't
fill into these areas, giving proper
support, then the spine is forced
into an unnatural position. This
can cause a pinching of the disc
by the vertebrae. In between each
vertebrae there is a "cushion" material
called a disc. These "plastic" discs
are made of sponge-like material
and revive themselves at night, by
absorbing water and nutrients while
you are sleeping so they can do their
job during the day. True orthopedic
support
while you are sleeping means maintaining
proper spinal alignment. How would
you feel if you stood sideways or
stood leaning backwards all day?
Why should you feel any different
if you slept for eight hours with
your back out of alignment?
With new understandings of the human body,
researchers and physicians are beginning to
look at the ergonomics of the human body. We
now know that the natural skeletal curves of
the body must be supported. These skeletal
curves include the arch of the foot in the
standing position and the small of the back
in the seated and lying position. Few people
would argue with the fact that a supportive
office chair or automotive seat should have
a lumbar support for the small of the back.
They would not describe a supportive seat as
two flat hard surfaces. If the above two descriptions
of a supportive shoe and seat are accurate,
then how can we describe a supportive mattress
that needs to support the skeletal curves,
as flat and hard? The description of a supportive
mattress should include enough cushion material
to "fill into" the skeletal curves
distributing the weight evenly and reduce pressure
on the joints.
Why
is pressure relief good?
Pressure
relief is vital to your health and
wellness. By sufficiently reducing
pressure from your body, you allow
oxygen rich blood to flow freely
throughout our bodies. The SAT mattress
is an advanced sleep system that
will equalize pressure throughout
your body by distributing the pressure
evenly from head to toe. Because
this mattress conforms completely
to your entire body, it keeps you
in an anatomically correct position,
eliminating strain on your spinal
system and back muscles. You are
evenly supported on every part of
your body. On conventional inner
spring and foam mattresses, your
body weight is not displaced; rather
it is absorbed, so your muscles become
contracted.
When support is equalized with the self adjusting
air system, your muscles can relax and your
body rejuvenates itself throughout the night.
And in the side lying position, pressure becomes
more critical than support. On your side, with
all your upper body weight pushing down on
the shoulder cuff, lack of circulation and
nerve entrapment can cause discomfort requiring
constant repositioning of yourself all night
long. The same is true for your hip area, with
all the lower body weight concentrated on the
hip pointer, again causing discomfort if you
are on a too firm mattress. How long can you
sit with your legs crossed before you start
to feel the "tingle?" Why should
you think you could sleep in an uncomfortable
position for any greater length of time?
Will
I toss and turn less at night?
Yes,
the SAT mattress can provide pressure
relief, thereby reducing tossing
and turning throughout the night.
The average person tosses and turns
80-100 times a night. This is because
it is literally impossible to take
enough pressure off the body by sleeping
on inner springs or foam. Approximately
every 10 minutes our brains are receiving
signals to move our bodies since
too much pressure is being applied
against our tissue, interrupting
proper blood circulation.
The SAT mattress provides a sleeping environment
that allows blood and oxygen flow throughout
your entire body. Circulation decreases with
age, and the nerve endings and little capillary
blood vessels become closer to the skin's
surface. Pressure points of the body, like
the shoulders and hips, become more sensitive
to a firm sleep surface, restricting proper
blood flow and causing discomfort. Sleeping
on a SAT mattress automatically assures less
tossing and turning because it provides the
optimum sleep surface.
Why
is deep sleep important?
Deep
sleep is not just an anecdotal description
- it's a measurable phenomenon
that researchers call "Stage
4" sleep. This is a period of
sleep in which the body is at complete
rest: brain activity is quiet, breathing
is slow and the muscles are totally
relaxed. Many years of clinical sleep
research have proven that the more
time you spend in Stage 4 sleep without
interruption, the more rested you
feel in the morning.
One thing that interrupts Stage 4 sleep is
physical discomfort. If your mattress is pressing
against your tissues, reducing blood circulation,
you will be leaving Stage 4 sleep and will
be tossing and turning trying to find a comfortable
position. The SAT mattress provides for a prolonged,
deep, restorative and restful night's sleep,
assuring that you wake up better rested, more
alert and more rejuvenated.
Why
is proper blood & oxygen circulation
so important while we sleep?
Blood's
purpose is to transport nutrients
(vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino
acids, proteins, hormones) to the
cells. The primary agent to deliver
nutrients to the cells is oxygen!
Blood carries oxygen! The richer
the oxygen content of your blood,
the better your body functions along
with having a stronger immune system.
Sleeping on a SAT mattress, your
body is in an environment below capillary
closure at all times, meaning oxygen
is never being occluded or cutoff
due to pressure building up on your
body. Proper blood circulation is
allowed throughout the night carrying
oxygen rich blood.
Sleeping on inner spring and foam mattresses
creates an environment of oxygen deficiency.
Oxygenation is paramount to our overall health
and wellness. Air displaces weight, unlike
inner spring and foam mattresses which can
only absorb weight. The significance of this
is vitally important since our objective is
to lower the interface pressures against the
body, allowing oxygen rich blood to flow freely
throughout our system.
What
other benefits do you realize by
having oxygen rich blood circulation
while sleeping?
The
decrease of oxygen is the number
one reason for depression, headaches
and migraines. Research indicates
without exception that a correlation
between decreases in oxygen levels
and concurrent increases in human
illness and disease. Dr Otto Warbug
(Nobel prize winner into the cause
of cancer) has shown that cancer
cells can only begin to proliferate
in the human body when our cells
become oxygen deficient... and that
cancer cells cannot proliferate at
all when exposed to an oxygen-rich
environment. " In all serious
disease states, we find a concomitant
low oxygen state. Low oxygen in the
body tissue is a sure indicator for
disease...and is the fundamental
cause of all degenerative disease." (Dr
Stephen Levine - Author of "Oxygen
Deficiency: A Concomitant to All
Degenerative Illness.") The
SAT mattress provides a sleeping
environment that allows sufficient
blood and oxygen flow throughout
your entire body.
The more oxygen we are able to deliver to the
brain, the better able it is to function. Oxygen
is the key fundamental element of triggering
Human Growth Hormone (HGH) receptor activity.
Human Growth Hormone is commonly referred to
as the fountain of youth! This activity primarily
happens at night while you are in a deep restful
sleep. Human Growth Hormone is secreted from
the pituitary gland and oxygen is the primary
agent for making this happen. Human Growth
Hormone has to be in adequate abundance in
order for you to have a strong immune system.
Also, our bodies have human electrical fields
that emit a frequency. Sleeping on inner spring
and foam mattresses interrupts the natural
emission of frequency due to occlusion of blood
flow. When we compromise our natural frequencies
by sleeping on a mattress other than a gas
(air, water, gel) we suppress the immune system
and become susceptible to disease and free
radical damage. We speed up the aging process.
I
understand that our nervous system
is connected to our spine?
Yes,
our nervous system has three main
parts: Brain, Spinal Cord & Nerves.
Our brains are our command center
and our nerves connect the spinal
cord to every part of our bodies.
A healthy nervous system allows our
bodies to perform at an optimum level.
Too much pressure on our spinal system
can cause compression, irritation
and stretching of our nerves. This
will choke the natural supply of
nerves to the spinal system, negatively
affecting the performance of our
bodies and overall health and wellness.
Eliminating nerve interference is
also paramount to efficient functioning
of our immune system and organs.
Sleeping in an environment below
capillary closure eliminates nerve
interference since excessive pressure
is removed. The healthier your spine,
the healthier your nervous system,
the healthier you will be!
The
SAT mattress uses a wool topper,
why?
The
SAT mattress is an all natural product
utilizing nature's finest materials.
Not only does this mattress harness
mother natures most abundant power
source, but it also uses nature's
miracle fiber. Wool! Wool is an amazing
fiber that man has not been able
to duplicate. Wool will absorb 30%
of its weight in moisture without
feeling wet, eliminating that damp
clammy feeling when we perspire too
much during sleep. Sleeping on virgin
wool has demonstrated to lower our
skin temperatures more while maintaining
a lower, stable humidity environment
and lower, uniform heart rate. It
is hygienic, hypoallergenic and makes
you feel warmer in the winter and
cooler in the summer. The SAT mattress
is a combination of 21st Century
technology and mother nature's best
kept secrets with one goal in mind:
To provide the finest sleep environment
attainable here on earth.
How
long has the SAT mattress been
available?
The
SAT was originally introduced into
the health care industry (hospitals,
nursing homes & home care) in
1997 for the treatment and prevention
of bedsores (decubitus ulcers). Bedsores
can quickly develop when blood and
oxygen are occluded from healthy
tissue. "Starved of oxygen,
the body will become ill, and if
this persists it will die",
Dr John Muntz - Nutritional Scientist.
Healthy tissue actually dies and
a wound opens since the body is deficient
in oxygen. This technology quickly
gained popularity among physicians
and clinicians once the trials supported
its clinical efficacy. Today, every
leading spinal rehab and teaching
hospital in North America and Europe
utilizes this revolutionary new patented
technology.
Is
the SAT mattress reimbursable
by Private
Insurance,?
The SAT mattress is the only mattress
recognized by the U.S. Gov't and
Private Insurance in the consumer
mattress marketplace. It has its

How
important is eliminating dust mites
from our mattress and why is Natural
Organic wool so important?
Wool
contains lanolin, which is a natural
dust mite repellent. Mattresses,
(where 1/3 of you life occurs), are
a prime habitat for dust mites. A
typical mattress has anywhere from
100,000 to 10 million dust mites
inside. Dust mites feed on human
skin scales, which we shed all the
time. We shed approximately 1g of
skin a week in our beds, and we spend
up to eight hours a day there, producing
about a pint of water in sweat, which
causes RH Relative Humidity to remain
at a high level.
Throughout
their lifetime (approximately 3 months),
dust mites produce around 2000 fecal
pellets, each containing digestive
enzymes to which some people are
allergic. The same pellets are breathed
in by humans, becoming lodged in
the bronchi, which are the two branches
of the respiratory tract between
the trachea and the bronchioles.
These pellets cause a local inflammation
in the area of the bronchi where
they have lodged. If a person is
exposed to dust mite feces over
a long period of time the inflammation
becomes chronic, i.e. persists for
a long period of time. Because the
once smooth airway is now narrowed
and uneven, the airway through it
becomes turbulent, causing wheezing.
In short, the dust mite allergen
plays a major part in the development
of allergic asthma in 85% of cases.
